What Tahlequah
Public Works Authority Does
-
Plan, fund and administer the operations of the
Authority to provide reasonably priced and
affordable electric, water distribution, water
treatment, wastewater collection, wastewater
treatment services for the City of Tahlequah and
surrounding areas.

Provide meter reading, billing and collection
services for Northeastern Oklahoma Public
Facilities Authority, (N.O.P.F.A., a.k.a., Gas
Authority).

Provide billing and collection service for the
City of Tahlequah's solid waste and stormwater
management.

Perform construction inspection service of water
and wastewater extensions of provide development
and developers installing utilities within the
jurisdiction of the City and surrounding area.

Provide, maintain and expand the electric
distribution system.

Provide, maintain and expand the water
distribution and water treatment plants.

Provide, maintain and expand the waste
water treatment and waste water collection
systems and surrounding areas of the City of
Tahlequah.

Provide street, security, and traffic lighting
for the City of Tahlequah's surrounding areas.
What Tahlequah
Public Works Authority Does Not Do

Provides garbage or trash pick-up

Install and maintain street signs, and traffic
control.

Provide or maintain streets

Provide or maintain street drainage and storm
water drainage and retention.

Provide solid waste services.

Tahlequah Public Works Authority has been
serving Tahlequah and the surrounding area since
1902 when it first opened as the Water Works
plant. Many changes and additions have
transpired since that time, but we have always
been committed to providing our customers with
the highest quality of service at the best
possible price.
Our purpose is to provide,
furnish, and supply to the City of Tahlequah and
its surrounding area electrical, water, and
sewer services, and to protect the health,
safety, and general welfare of the public within
our jurisdiction.
Since Tahlequah is one of
the fastest growing areas in the state of
Oklahoma it is critical that we as an entity
continue to strive to meet the increased demand
of our city and our customers.
